Team Lightning in Steamboat Springs, Colo., is a summer competitive swim team in the Western Slope League, offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. Our mission statement reads: The purpose of Steamboat Springs Swim Team (SSST) is to have fun while promoting competitive swimming, a healthy lifestyle, and sportsmanship among the youth of Routt County, Colorado. The Steamboat Springs Swim Team is run by its Board which meets several times a year.

SSST offers a Competitive Team and a Development Team. The competitive team members practice three to five times per week and are encouraged to participate in at least three meets. The development team members practice twice a week and may participate in competition at whatever level they are comfortable. The development team is limited to swimmers ten years old and younger and is designed as an introduction to competitive swimming, and is intended as a feeder program for the competitive team. Development team members may not practice during April or in the June/July morning sessions.
